I've always loved the biblical phrase "I am the alpha and omega" meaning the first and the last so the type/illustration piece is playing up the intersection of letters and numbers coming together in a typeface to make z1 using the last and the first based around the fontfabric.com val typeface. Secondarily as a child the alphabet is your first learned material and space is my interpretation of heaven, will be the last.
